Facilities and Amenities

Mabe Community Hub (MCH) formerly Mabe Youth and Community Project is a community facility which provides recreation and leisure activities for the inhabitants of Mabe and the surrounding area.

It is a large social space with parking in the heart of our rural village.
The charity is managed and administered by a group of executive officers and elected committee members all of whom are volunteers.

Hall Hire:
The hall is available to hire for weekly or monthly activities, events and parties.

The office is manned on Tuesdays and Thursdays 09.30 – 11.30.

An answerphone is available out of hours.

Wi-Fi is available – code on request.

A first aid kit is located in the hall and there is a defibrillator outside of the hall entrance.

A microphone, screen and projector, keyboard and staging is also available with prior notice.

Hall hire charges on request

Types of user:
Regular users - bookings on a regular basis throughout the year
Commercial users - those running a commercial business or for profit
Casual users - events and parties

The fully equipped kitchen is available, however, use of the cooking facilities will incur an additional charge per session.

The Hall hire charge will need to include time to set up and clean up the hall after the event.

For Casual bookings a £20 cash deposit is required, and hall hire costs to be paid in full, in advance of the event.

A Mabe Community Hall Booking form will need to be completed as well as the Hirers checklist.

For Regular bookings an invoice will be sent and payment made via bank transfer.
The hall accepts card machine payments.

Alcohol may not be bought or sold on the premises and MCH should be informed of any intention to apply for a temporary event notice (TEN) in order to provide alcohol for an event.

The hall has a PPL PRS music licence which covers the use of radio, digital and live performances. We ask that music is turned off by 11pm as the hall is located in a residential area.

There is a CD player connected to an internal sound system if required.

Hall facilities:

Mabe Community Hub has one large hall (see photos).

The hall is accessible for those with a disability.

It can accommodate up to 100 people and has approx. 80 chairs with 11 large and 4 small tables.

The main hall is approximately 7.5 metres wide x 15 metres long excluding kitchen and store room.

There is a disabled toilet located on the ground floor with additional toilets on the first floor.

Play park:

The play park is a privately owned facility which is available to the public at all times.

MCH committee reserve the right to close the play park at any time should the need arise.

Playing Field:

The playing field is jointly owned and managed by MCH and Mabe School.
It is open to the public outside of school hours for leisure activities.

Dogs (except assistance dogs) are not allowed in the playing field, community hall or play park.

Car park:

There is convenient, free onsite parking in marked bays and disabled parking is also available close to the hall. This is a private car park for the use of hall users. Parking is at the owner’s risk and MCH accepts no liability.

Mabe Community Lunch Club

A welcoming community lunch and social space run by volunteers for anyone over the age of 65, resident in Mabe Parish who is seeking company and a hot meal once a week.

We charge a small fee for lunch, dessert, tea or coffee accompanied by a small raffle every week.

Slimming World

This friendly group meet every Tuesday from 6pm in the hall.

A club for everyone who enjoys gardens, gardening and plants.

We meet at 7pm every second Wednesday of the month. We have 2 outings a year and hold a Christmas / New year lunch.

We also hold coffee mornings / fayres which include plant stalls in
April and October.

Carpet Bowls

Held on a Thursday afternoon and is considered a fun event on a
small mat with a wooden wood (bowl)

Short Mat Bowls

Held on a Friday afternoon. This is a more serious event, on a longer mat with a normal full-size wood (bowl)
We are always ready to welcome new members so feel free to pop into the hall on either afternoon between 1.30 - 4pm for a FREE taster session.

Mabe Brownies

In Mabe, meetings are held weekly during term time at the Mabe Community Hub.

Brownies have lots of opportunities to try new activities. They love to play games, discover interesting facts, and learn more about the world around them. Our group regularly takes part in community events, including the Remembrance Parade and litter collection initiatives.

Brownies can work towards interest badges related to things they want to know more about, from aviation to zero waste.

We also organise trips and offer residential experiences.
